Christmas Shopping in Katoomba

It certainly has been a very busy lead up to Christmas at zuri. We have hardly had time to catch our breath and all sorts of lovely things are racing out the door.  We are busy socialising too, with a lovely Festive Vegetarian BBQ last Saturday night where we mingled with lots of friends from the Slow Food movement, a couple of gallery trips to see the latest work of talented mountain artists and a street party with our lovely friends and neighbours. I'd say we've come back to work for a rest, but not at this time of year!

A huge THANK YOU to all those local folk who supported our Late Night Shopping adventure. Katoomba was buzzing with happy shoppers, buskers, choirs, Santa, the RFS truck and even a Christmas Tree on stilts.

Congratulations to the winners of the Lucky Hampers - C McGraw, G Flood, M Wilson and J Wood.

The little gang of shop keepers who organise the whole thing had a ball and we are looking forward to our champagne debriefing soon.  Any suggestions as to how to improve the event next year are more than welcome.

Many of you love the hip and happening magazine Frankie, but you'll love it even more when you see this edition's cover which features zuri regular, the lovely Angelique.
Our family Christmas celebrations start in a couple of days and continue until Boxing Day.  Just a few more gifts to buy, then I can concentrate on making the food and making the house look lovely for all the guests.

zuri will be open each day until the 24th December from 10 - 5 pm.
We re-open on December 27th from 11 - 3 pm, then normal opening hours resume.

Just as things get really busy at zuri, I've come down with a cold. Thanks to Ziggy for holding the fort and letting me have a day off to recover.  I spent yesterday evening making cupcakes for my lovely s-daughter's birthday.  She was a bit blue about having her birthday on a day when most of her friends were on an excursion. Still I figure, if you have cakes to share, friends will find you.

Speaking of sharing, we love this time of year when people come to zuri to do their Christmas shopping and find just what they are after. A lady was overheard the other day to say "I've never seen so many lovely things in the one place at the one time". We were chuffed to hear that! That's when Christmas has meaning - when you find the perfect gift - not just something you found in a shop that 'would do'.
